Our Monthly Pop-Up Clinics Bring Healing to the Heart of the Community

Date

At Integrated Healthcare System (IHCS), we believe healthcare should meet people where they are—especially for those experiencing homelessness, poverty, or other barriers to care. That belief is at the heart of our monthly Pop-Up Clinic, held at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where medical services, support, and a sense of community come together under one roof.

And now, we’re excited to announce a new update: The clinic will now be held every 3rd Thursday of the month instead of Friday. This change allows for greater flexibility and support, both for our volunteers and for those we serve.

But this clinic is more than a date on the calendar—it’s a movement of compassion, outreach, and connection. Whether you’re in need of care, looking to volunteer, or want to support this mission, here’s everything you need to know.

A Safe Haven for Health and Hope

The IHCS Pop-Up Clinic is designed to reach people who often fall through the cracks—those who may be living on the streets, staying in temporary shelters, or simply unable to access consistent healthcare.

Held monthly inside Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, the space is transformed into a welcoming hub offering:

  • Primary medical care – wellness checks, basic diagnostics, and health advice

  • Behavioral health screenings – emotional support and connection to long-term services

  • Peer coaching – non-judgmental guidance from people with lived experience

  • Street medicine referrals – for those needing more intensive follow-up care

  • Resource navigation – helping guests connect with housing programs, caseworkers, or local agencies

We also partner with organizations across the region to bring even more resources into one place—because care is not just about treatment, it’s about community.

A New Day, A Continued Commitment

Starting this month, the Monthly Pop-Up Clinic will now take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month, making it easier for both our care teams and community members to coordinate services. Walk-ins are strongly encouraged, especially for individuals who are chronically homeless or disconnected from traditional care systems.

This monthly rhythm ensures that people can rely on regular access to support and build trust with healthcare providers and outreach workers over time.

An Invitation to Our Partners

We know that solving homelessness and health inequality doesn’t fall on one organization alone—that’s why we extend an open invitation to local nonprofits, faith-based groups, shelters, mental health advocates, recovery programs, and community leaders to participate each month.

Organizations are welcome to:

  • Set up informational booths

  • Hand out flyers or program applications

  • Talk directly with individuals in need

  • Offer services like housing referrals, food benefits, ID help, or transportation access

When we bring all these resources together in one place, we create a truly integrated support system—one that’s welcoming, effective, and rooted in dignity.

How Local Businesses and Donors Can Help

Beyond volunteers and partner orgs, there’s another group that plays a vital role in this work: our donors and community supporters.

Running a successful clinic every month requires more than medical supplies. To create a space that’s truly healing and humanizing, we aim to offer small but meaningful touches like:

  • Hygiene kits (toothbrushes, soap, wipes, etc.)
  • Snacks and drinks (especially cold water during hot months)

  • New socks, T-shirts, or blankets

  • Bus passes or transportation vouchers

  • Gift cards or resource guides for follow-up care

If you’re a local business owner—whether you run a café, pharmacy, or clothing store—we’d love to collaborate. Your donation of supplies or time could be the thing that helps someone feel seen, safe, and cared for.

Why It Matters

Every third Thursday, this small corner of the city becomes a place where needs are met without judgment. For some, it’s the first time they’ve spoken to a doctor in years. For others, it’s a stepping stone toward getting housing, starting recovery, or finding purpose again.

It’s not just about prescriptions or checkups. It’s about reminding people that they matter—and giving them the tools and support they need to move forward.
